Buying a Cleveland putter is a sensible decision. They are still not quite amongst the best in the world ... but they're not far behind. Cleveland are extremely well known for their wedges (among the best on the market) and have also made excellent fairway woods over the years, and they've made a range of fairly traditional putters for some time.
Roger Cleveland (who now designs wedges for Callaway) started the Cleveland Golf business in 1979 making tailor made clubs based on classic designs. Soon after being bought in 2007 by the same company that owns Srixon, Cleveland's putters took on a distinctly different look.
